On June 12, 2024, Simpson Housing Services and Project for Pride in Living broke ground on a new shelter in Minneapolis’ Whittier neighborhood at 2740 1st Ave. S., site of the former Simpson United Methodist Church building.

Minneapolis, MN: At the 39th Annual Homeless Memorial March, the community remembered 266 people: 125 people who died while homeless, 102 individuals who were previously homeless, and 25 advocates who passed away in 2023.

Simpson Housing Services began demolition of the Simpson United Methodist Church building in Minneapolis’ Whittier neighborhood on October 9. The agency plans to rebuild a new shelter and housing facility on the site.
