Volunteers are an essential part of Simpson’s mission to house, support, and empower people experiencing homelessness — and your time and energy are needed now more than ever.
We invite you to partner with us as we partner with people impacted by homelessness. Together, we can work toward a future where everyone has safe, stable housing.
Cook & Connect – Prepare and serve meals led by professional chefs, while building community and offering dignity to shelter guests. Sign up as an individual or a group.
Cook On-Call – Be available as need arises to work alongside a professional chef to create nutritious meals for guests of Simpson Community Shelter & Apartments.
Prep Cook – Assist the Shelter Kitchen Specialist in prepping food to serve to shelter guests. All levels of kitchen skills are welcomed.
Donate Supplies – From personal-care essentials like shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, and lip balm to items like winter gloves, umbrellas, and hair products, every donated item supports shelter guests and families moving into housing feel respected and supported.
Literacy Tutor – Meet once a week with an elementary-age person to work on literacy skills, social/emotional skills, reading engagement, and relationship-building.
Youth Mentor – Mentors build supportive relationships with youth, helping them grow in confidence, strengthen social-emotional skills, and develop their sense of identity and leadership.
Shelter Support – Build supportive and meaningful relationships with shelter guests and assist shelter staff in distributing supplies, doing laundry, serving coffee, enjoying dinner with guests, and much more!
