Emergency Shelter for Individuals

If you are over 18 and need emergency shelter in Hennepin County, please call the Hennepin Shelter Hotline at 612-204-8200.

You will be connected with a trained specialist who will help you find temporary, safe housing that fits your needs and household composition—including but not limited to the following emergency and supportive housing options.

Hotline hours:
8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday–Friday
1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., weekends and holidays

Shelter beds become available:
10:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., Monday–Friday
1:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., weekends and holidays

Emergency Shelter for Families

Simpson does not provide emergency shelter for families with children. Please call the Hennepin Shelter Hotline at 612-204-8200.

Emergency Shelter and Services for Youth

Simpson does not provide emergency shelter for youth. Youth may view resources and available shelter beds in real time at Youth Services Network.

Single Adult Housing

Simpson’s Single Adult Housing programs take all of our referrals for Single Adult Housing through Coordinated Entry. Coordinated Entry helps single adults in emergency shelters access supportive housing programs in Hennepin County.

Coordinated Entry only screens those who are staying in emergency shelters. If you are currently staying in an emergency shelter, talk to the staff at the shelter where you are staying.

Family Housing

We take all referrals for Family Housing through Coordinated Entry. Coordinated Entry helps families in emergency shelters access supportive housing programs in Hennepin County. As of February 1, 2024, Agate Housing and Services is the point of contact for Coordinated Entry.

If you are staying in emergency family shelter, such as People Serving People, St. Anne’s, or overflow shelters, you will automatically be screened by Coordinated Entry. If you are a Hennepin County resident and staying in another emergency shelter, please request an assessment by telephone or online referral form:
