This holiday Jonathan didn’t have to sleep in his car.

img_20161022_213241This fall, Jonathan was homeless and sleeping in his car. His friend, who had a bed at the Simpson shelter, brought Jonathan to visit.  He hadn’t been to the shelter before and wasn’t really interested in staying. There happened to be an extra bed open that night and Jonathan’s friend persuaded him to stay and get a decent night’s sleep.

The shelter staff chatted with Jonathan about his situation and helped him explore an affordable housing option that would be a good fit for him. That night they helped him fill out a housing application.

Jonathan didn’t come back for a second night, but a few weeks later he received a call from a housing provider saying that they had an apartment for him. On December 1st, Jonathan got keys to his brand new apartment and was able to spend the holidays in a home of his own!

End the year by making a difference for those who are experiencing homelessness. There is still time to make a donation or learn more about volunteer opportunities. Remember, all new and increased gifts by December 31st will be matched by the Frey Foundation.
