Volunteer spotlight: St. Thomas the Apostle Church’s housewarming ministry
Simpson News January 31, 2022St. Thomas and its community of volunteers regularly help Simpson in a variety of ways. Some folks like to serve meals at the shelter. Some sign up for tutoring and mentoring services. And every few months or so, they work with advocates like Jose to help transitioning families furnish their new homes. Read more here.
Art 4 Shelter is back in 2022, and we are now accepting submissions! This year’s event will include both in-person and virtual art sale events, including:
- Friday, May 13: First Look Luncheon
- Friday May 13: Evening art sale
- Saturday, May 14: Family Day
To learn more about submitting, visit the Art 4 Shelter page.
One of the most special, simple things StuartCo does for Simpson is the same thing it does for its properties: basic maintenance.
It’s a particularly huge relief for the emergency shelter, which served many years as a church before it ever became anyone’s home, and always needs a little love.

We’re so honored to have your support and to serve the community we love. That’s reason enough to celebrate — while acknowledging the urgency required to address the hardship and injustice posed by insufficient housing.
Donation letters for tax purposes will be sent in early February.

- In-person Homeless Memorial March begins at 4 p.m.
- Route begins and ends at Plymouth Congregational Church (1900 Nicollet Ave. S, Minneapolis) and loops through Loring Park.
- Virtual Memorial Service begins at 7 p.m. on Facebook Live.
- A program with the list of names being read this year is available here.
