Simpson Housing Services has been selected to provide on-site staff support at Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative’s affordable housing building 66 West in Edina. 66 West will include 39 studio apartments, shared common areas, and offices for onsite supportive services. Supportive services are the key to helping young adults who have been on the streets or in shelters or otherwise lacking a stable home to be part of a supportive community and to achieve their employment and educational goals. Tenants will primarily be between 18 and 24 and have experienced long-term homelessness. Construction will begin likely in summer of 2016 with an anticipated opening summer 2017.
“We are honored to partner with Beacon to provide these critical stabilization services to young people at 66 West. Simpson is part of the community solution to homelessness – this project is an excellent representation of community response, as it takes all of us working together to clear the path for our residents at 66 West,” said Simpson Executive Director Steve Horsfield.
Simpson staff also provides on-site services at Cedar View Apartments, a 10-unit Beacon building that’s home to young parents and their children.
