December 21, 2020

Dear Friends,

This year has been a profound reminder of how our community comes together in the most challenging and unpredictable of circumstances to ensure that people are safely housed.

The challenges of 2020 — the COVID-19 pandemic, the tragic loss of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police, and political divisiveness — propelled our community into uncertainty, emotional turmoil, and disconnection, with repercussions deeply felt by people who are experiencing homelessness and community members who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

At Simpson Housing Services, we have remained focused on our mission to house, support, and advocate for people experiencing homelessness. We are committed to doing anti racist work and advancing racial equity — in the communities we are a part of, the communities we serve, within our own agency, and as individuals.

• Since the onset of the pandemic, we have operated our shelter 24 hours a day / 7 days a week, providing a dignified and safe space for 70 shelter guests.

• Simpson’s staff has partnered with individuals and families in 531 households, offering housing and resources, promoting self-advocacy, and walking alongside participants as they achieve housing stability and their unique goals.

Simpson’s staff has demonstrated extraordinary resilience during the past 10 months. I hope you will join me in expressing gratitude to our staff for their remarkable work and unwavering commitment. We also thank you for your partnership. With the generous support of volunteers, supporters, and friends, like you, we are able to do the critical work of providing safe shelter and helping people as they transition out of homelessness.

The commitment of our Simpson community makes this work possible.

Simpson Housing Services is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our staff and the participants we serve throughout and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.

At this critical time, your support matters more than ever. With your gift, we will be equipped with the resources necessary to support our shelter and housing programs.

Will you play an important role in ending homelessness by making a gift today?

Double the Impact of Your Gift! New or increased gifts (10% or more) will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000.

Thank you to our generous partners — the Frey Foundation, Tom Barry, and The Barry Foundation — for providing this fundraising challenge.
