Why Mentoring
Mentoring is a critical component in young people’s lives, helping them make the decisions and connections that lead to improved opportunities. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations.
For children experiencing homelessness, it can be challenging to attend school on a regular basis and be successful in learning. Our goal, through direct and intentional support of young people is to help them build the skills they need to become stable, healthy adults whose gifts help strengthen our community.
How you can help?
We are currently recruiting for mentors for our Middle School students (5th-8th grade). Mentors spend time weekly with a student for 10 months or longer, planning outings based around the young person’s strengths and interest.
The first step to becoming a mentor is to attend one of our Introductory Sessions where you’ll learn more about the different opportunities and our strategies for success.
