Artist Feature: Jack Dant

Artwork by Jack Dant

Jack Dant is both an artist and, in his professional life, a medical device product development engineer and project manager. He finds balance and commonalities in these two pursuits. “I find that my love of art and painting is a great complement to this technical side of my life. Both endeavors require and develop: creativity, observation, attention to detail, professional expertise and a sense of community,” he says.

As an oil painter of representational art, Jack Dant enjoys painting landscapes en plein air and studio, as well as still life, figures, portraits and interiors. “I most identify with painting in the traditional realism and impressionist styles. I also have a deep appreciation of craft and sculpture, and I am developing both of these in my artistic practice,” he says.
Jack has shown his artwork at Grand Hill Gallery, FrameWorks, and the Twin Cities Arts and Crafts Show in St. Paul; in Grand Marais, MN; Solon Springs, WI; and in his own St. Paul studio/gallery. Jack feels honored to be a part of the vibrant and growing painting community in the Twin Cities and is thankful for the support of friends and collectors from around the region.

A good friend of Jack’s who is an Art 4 Shelter participating artist and committee member introduced him to the organization and event years ago. Inspired by the incredible energy in support of Simpson’s mission, Jack has been a dedicated artist with Art 4 Shelter since 2012.

Jack is from the Twin Cities and currently lives in the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood in St. Paul.
