Fall Updates

Fall is a great time to get involved with Simpson! Catch up on autumn events and ways you can be part of the wider community.

Give to the Max!

Early giving has begun for Give to the Max Day on November 21. All gifts made between now and Nov. 21 count toward our fundraising goal and will be processed on the 21st.

Thanks to the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, Frey Foundation, and The Barry Foundation, all new and increased gifts (10 percent or more) will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000!

Your partnership helps Simpson’s mission to house, support, and empower people impacted by homelessness. Schedule your gift now through our GiveMN.org page or our website.

Building Community: Simpson 360

This October, 25 people joined us for Simpson 360. Attendees learned about the agency’s recent work and plans for the upcoming year, heard updates on Simpson’s shelter and housing programs, and had the opportunity to engage directly with staff. The evening was a fantastic way for partners, supporters, and community members to get to know the staff and our work. We’re looking forward to hosting Simpson 360 again!

Raise a Pint for Good!

We kicked off giving season on Nov. 1 with Pour It Forward, an event hosted by Fulton Taproom with GiveMN to raise funds for Fulton’s nonprofit partners. The Simpson team enjoyed talking to community members about the agency’s mission, values, and shelter and housing programs.

Thank you to Fulton, GiveMN, and everyone who came out to support local nonprofits!

You’re invited to the first event in our 2025 Anti-Racism Learning Series on November 16th: “Breaking the Cycle of Systemic Oppression: From Theory to Practice.” This community learning opportunity is part of an in-person series of workshops designed to introduce topics of anti-racism and cultural awareness. Dr. Joanne Reeck, United for Change LLCwill facilitate the learning session at Simpson’s administrative and program offices. Tutor or Mentor Young People Impacted By Homelessness

Children and Youth Services is looking for volunteer tutors and mentors to make a positive, lasting impact in the lives of young people in our supportive housing programs. Choose the age group, level of structure, and degree of scheduling flexibility that’s right for you!

Reading tutors work closely with children and families to improve reading and academic skills through weekly tutoring sessions that are specifically designed to meet the needs of each individual student. Youth Group Mentors work with small groups of young people in grades 5-8 to support their learning, exploration, and development. Volunteers in all of our programs receive training and regular staff support throughout the year.

Become part of these young people’s network of supportive adults. Together, we can break the cycle of homelessness.
